Jari Hämäläinen is a full professor of industrial mathematics at LUT since 2010 and a former vice-rector for research and innovation in 2014–2024. He also has a part-time position as a senior advisor at Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. At LUT he leads a research team on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for Industrial and Environmental Flows and is a responsible teacher for courses on Partial Differential Equations with Applications and CFD for Environmental Flows. His main research interests are mathematical modelling and numerical methods in CFD, and CFD-based shape and control optimization.
